Description: The burner is made of bronze (weight 4 kg). Width 12". Height with top is 11" and without the top 7". The top is decorated with a dog, a bird on his back, four leaves and 3 rats. The base 4 rats, 2 handles with a bird on them, decorated in flowers and leaves.

Description: It is a Chinese Incense burner, censer. It has a beautiful foo dog, lion on top. It is decorated with 2 roosters on the sides.It is 12" high and 8" in diameter. It has handles that have been repaired in several places.
The paste (most visible on the image of the inside of the lid) is very similar to Shiwan items of 18th-19th centuries. But then I have never seen such a green glaze on Shiwan items before.
The Shiwan glazes of the earlier periods would have more of a clear but vibrant color, having more of a lead based content. I have a large Shiwan brushwasher with multi color tones that exibit the same glaze features, it dates to the late 18th century. Judging by style and form, this censer would date to the same period."
The vessel could be in the tradition of a secret society known as the Hung League (Triads). There theme was destroy Ching in with Ming. The grotesque man is one of the August sovereigns, Shen-nong, also present will be the other two, Fu Xi and Nuwa, often shown as , the dragon, or animal form as the eight legged lion. The Hung were a Secret Society with many signs and devices. The choice of a tripod vessel is the triangle, represents the Sun , Moon and Stars. A good book on the society of Hung is Gustave Schlegel's the Hung League. Probably made around the Nanking or Fukien region from start of Ching dynasty.

Description: The burner, sits on an ornately carved dark wood (mahogany?) table with a inset marble top. The burner is 18" H X 15" diameter including the lid, and is decorated on the side with 2 each of crabs, fish, and scorpions. It has what I would guess to be Chinese inscription on the bottom. The ornately carved stand on which it rests is 3" in height by 9" in diameter. The table is 19" by 19" and has a label inside with a rearing horse and some lettering, the only part of which I can read is "...EIGHING LUN or LON". Below these letters is "can ton".
